Back End Engineer

Minware offers business metrics for engineering that reveal the true cost of engineering impediments, enabling organizations to make better decisions and improve alignment between engineers and executives.

Kevin Borders founded Minware after successfully growing his previous company to $86 million in revenue and selling it in 2021. His goal is to help others benefit from his experience in building an engineering team from scratch to 40 members.

Minware is a self-funded, seed-stage company with promising initial customer traction. We seek individuals who share our values to help expand Minware’s reach.

The Role

As an early engineer at Minware, you will work directly with the founders to develop the product from the ground up. We seek someone passionate about designing, developing, and maintaining back-end applications.

We are looking for an ambitious and friendly engineer with experience in independently handling complex projects and building scalable, maintainable software. As we focus on developer productivity analytics, we prioritize process efficiency and code quality, aiming to minimize technical debt. We need someone who can lead us in this effort.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications independently, ensuring our service is performant, secure, and scalable.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and customers to define Minware’s capabilities.
  • Design and architect new system components.
  • Manage a backlog focused on reducing technical debt and improving internal efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience in building and maintaining complex back-end applications.
  • Familiarity with high-quality code principles, including continuous integration, declarative, and functional programming.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with non-technical stakeholders and occasionally with customers.
  • Well-versed in agile or lean planning and project management processes.
  • Preferred experience with our core stack (Postgres, Next.js, Apollo GraphQL) or similar technologies.
  • Optional but beneficial proficiency with infrastructure (AWS, Terraform).
