Job Description

Take charge of developing and implementing the global web strategy to effectively promote awareness, education, and acquisition in line with GitLab’s business objectives. Collaborate closely with various teams within Marketing (such as Product Marketing, SEO, Campaigns, Brand, and Events) as well as across departments (Product, IT) and senior management to shape the online experience for both potential and existing customers.

Responsibilities include overseeing performance analysis and the business impact of web initiatives, as well as devising and executing testing strategies and quality assurance processes. You’ll also be responsible for managing the website and content management system (CMS), advocating for best practices in UX design, customer experience, and engineering. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of leads, engineers, and design specialists, as well as maintain important vendor relationships.

Qualifications include 12-15 years of experience leading web strategy and design for a B2B or enterprise SaaS company, with 5-8 years of experience managing technical teams. You should be adept at balancing technical requirements with business objectives and consulting stakeholders on key initiatives. Proficiency in web development and related technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required, along with experience with major CMS platforms, UI design, and analytics tools.

You should have a track record of fostering a culture of testing and iteration within teams and be skilled in analyzing and reporting website performance metrics to various stakeholders. Strong team management skills, including career development and coaching, are essential, as well as experience collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, internal stakeholders, vendors, and agencies.

Performance indicators for success include metrics related to website sessions, user engagement, usability, site optimization, and conversion rates.
