Job Description

Arkadium is in search of a skilled Engineering Manager for Web Development to lead and enhance the growth of our acclaimed gaming platforms. Although the position is remote, candidates must be available during standard Western European Time (WET) hours (09:00 to 18:00) as most of our Engineering and Product teams operate in the Portugal time zone.

For candidates residing outside Portugal, onboarding will be facilitated through our international payroll provider.


  • Oversee the entire development process of scalable and high-performance full-stack applications.
  • Conceptualize and create comprehensive, robust full-stack solutions in line with business goals and technical requirements.
  • Offer expertise and guidance as a subject matter expert in the web industry.
  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor a small team of web and QA engineers, including technical training and career advancement support.
  • Coordinate the software development life cycle, collaborating with Product Owners and Project Managers to deliver impactful products efficiently.
  • Enhance application performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in both front-end and back-end components.
  • Implement and reinforce security measures for data protection and user authentication.
  • Drive innovation within the engineering team by researching and integrating cutting-edge tools and technologies like automation and Generative AI.


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in building scalable web products for consumers.
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and fostering career growth among engineers.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of software engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (such as React, Svelte, or Vue.js) and server-side programming languages (like Node.js).
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Practical experience in delivering software using cloud infrastructure, particularly on Microsoft Azure.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Working knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g., CCPA and GDPR).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
