Lead QA Engineer

Job Description

We’re seeking a Lead QA Engineer (Mobile/Web) to join our Engineering team with the goal of positioning Circle as the premier choice for creator/brand-led communities.

Your responsibilities will encompass developing and managing mobile and web automation test frameworks, overseeing the QA team, coordinating tasks, and serving as a mentor.

Candidates in North/South American (AMER) and European (EMEA) time zones are preferred.


  • Ensure Circle’s product quality cycle for a seamless user experience.
  • Contribute to frequent and careful product releases.
  • Develop and implement robust test automation frameworks for Android and iOS platforms, as well as for web applications.
  • Independently prioritize and define the QA roadmap.
  • Enhance codebase quality and identify architectural deficiencies.
  • Conduct thorough yet constructive PR reviews with Circle’s engineers.
  • Lead and guide the QA team, including hiring and performance management.
  • Collaborate closely with product and design leaders to deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Work closely with engineers to promote a quality mindset and a world-class user experience.

  • Proficiency in English (spoken, written, and reading) at a CEFR Level C1 / ILR Level 5.
  • 8+ years of experience as a QA Engineer on complex web applications.
  • Proficiency in Watir for web automation.
  • Familiarity with both mobile and web test automation, with a preference for balanced proficiency.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineers/QA.
  • Ability to coordinate/project-manage work, maintain team organization, and communicate proactively.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with autonomy and accountability.
  • Motivation to understand business and user needs to deliver impactful results.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and adaptability to changing directions.
  • Familiarity with agile software development principles.
  • Strong judgement and attention to detail in architectural, product, design, and process decisions.

Bonus points for experience with Elasticsearch, Sidekiq, Kafka, GraphQL, community platforms, CRM/Marketing tools, or working in the creator space, particularly at a fast-growing startup.

The salary range is $150,000 – $170,000 per year, subject to annual review and increase.
