Remote Full Stack Developer

June 7, 2024

Job Description

Penji is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform designed to assist universities in expanding their student support programs, such as tutoring, mentoring, and advising. Over the past two years, we’ve established partnerships with 55 universities including Rutgers, Georgia, and Vanderbilt, with plans for rapid expansion. We’re currently seeking a full stack developer to join our remote team.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with our Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on various aspects of our technology stack, including:

  • Developing a React Native application (for iOS, Android, and Web) utilized by students, tutors, and advisors for scheduling, managing interactions, and communication.
  • Creating a React admin application for monitoring and managing center activity.
  • Enhancing our backend systems to seamlessly integrate with university infrastructure.

Additionally, you’ll contribute to the creation of innovative solutions to further enhance student support services, such as appointment scheduling, drop-in sessions, and kiosk functionalities.

The interview process involves:

  • Submitting your GitHub or relevant profile along with information on your skills.
  • Participating in technical discussions related to your experience and our technology stack.
  • Asking questions and engaging in hands-on coding exercises, particularly in React.

We’re interested in learning more about your experience with React Native applications, contributions to open-source projects, Stack Overflow reputation, presentations, articles, demos, or recent technological endeavors.

As a member of our team, you’ll:

  • Deliver new features weekly across our applications and platform.
  • Attend daily standups and weekly prioritization meetings.
  • Collaborate with university partners to enhance and expand student programs.
  • Engage in virtual reality activities like minigolf with the team.

The technology stack you’ll work with includes JavaScript, TypeScript, React, React Native, Redux, Node, MongoDB, Firebase, Jest, and various other tools and platforms.

Within your first week, you’ll set up your local environment and address a “good first issue” in our system. Within 1-2 months, you’ll contribute to a significant project release, gain an understanding of our systems, and assist in troubleshooting user-facing issues. Within 3-6 months, you’ll take ownership of large features and new integrations, contribute to product roadmap discussions, and deeply understand student and partner needs.

We offer competitive benefits, including a 401K match, health insurance reimbursement, and generous vacation and sick leave policies.

The higher education landscape is evolving rapidly, and Penji is at the forefront of innovation. Join us in shaping the future of student support services. Please include the word “SUPPORTS” in your application to demonstrate that you’ve read this post thoroughly. (#RMTAzLjE5Ny4yNDkuMjUz).
