Job Description

Automattic is seeking a data analyst to join their marketing team. This role involves translating data into actionable insights to enhance customer marketing and retention strategies, and to support product development efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining standardized reports on crucial metrics throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Developing customer segmentation models to guide personalized, multi-channel marketing strategies.
  • Performing ad hoc analyses to understand customer behavior, needs, and individual test outcomes.
  • Collaborating with other analysts and developers to improve data accessibility within the organization.
  • Designing a process for prioritizing and communicating data requests and priorities.


  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel.
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, KISSmetrics, or Mixpanel.
  • Experience working with marketing teams to provide analyses and address business inquiries.
  • Ability to present data clearly with actionable recommendations.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with business owners, executives, developers, and creatives on data, strategy, and tests.
  • Excellent prioritization and communication skills.
  • Web development experience is a plus, but not required.

This is a remote position, and you can work from anywhere. Relocating to the Bay Area is not necessary.

Salary and Compensation:

Although the company hasn’t published salary data, we estimate it based on similar roles in Data Science, Marketing, Analyst, and Non-Tech fields to be between $62,500 and $105,000 per year.
