OpenTable is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Groups, Identity & Access team, responsible for delivering a secure identity and access platform. In this hands-on role, you will also build top-tier tools for our key groups and enterprise customers. This position involves a mix of technical work, leadership, and strategy.

As a vital member of a cross-functional team, you will help design and build OpenTable’s identity and access platform for global restaurants, delivering excellent tools for our most important groups and enterprise customers. We believe in small, independent product development teams – product managers, designers, and engineers working together, empowered to make decisions.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will make technical and architectural decisions to ensure our platforms are scalable, highly available, reliable, and high-performing, especially during peak traffic.

Sharing your discoveries and learning from others energizes you. When developing software, you consider user experience from all angles. You take pride in refining your work until it is reliable and easy to use. You remain calm during incidents, adept at debugging production issues across services and multiple stack levels.

Please Apply If You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience in backend software engineering with distributed applications.
  • Expertise in Java, Spring framework and Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
  • Experience with large-scale, distributed, service-oriented, and event-driven architectures and systems, and understanding core principles of observability, monitoring, performance, high availability, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; enjoy working with engineers, designers, and product owners.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and message buses like Kafka; proficiency with Git.
  • Discipline in unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with agile methodology.
  • Self-motivated to build and share knowledge and skills; ability and desire to mentor and be mentored.
  • A professional who forms opinions, enjoys discussion, and remains personable and approachable.

  • Experience collaborating with remote teams across time zones.
  • Experience with an Identity provider (e.g., Okta).
  • Prior experience in the identity, access, and security domain.
