Job Description

The Product Design team at the Wikimedia Foundation is seeking an experienced UX Designer to provide temporary support to other designers on the team for a duration of 6 months.

Job Description:

The selected designer will engage in various design tasks as required by the product team and the Design manager they are assisting. This may include attending daily remote team meetings and regularly presenting design work for critique.

Responsibilities:

  • Simplifying complex concepts to create user-friendly experiences.
  • Developing prototypes and conducting experiments to test hypotheses iteratively.
  • Utilizing and enhancing design systems and guidelines to implement new features.
  • Ensuring designs adhere to accessibility standards.
  • Collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers to develop product plans and maintain design processes.
  • Simplifying complex ideas into understandable points for engagement with readers and communities throughout the design process.

Skills Required:

  • Clear and concise communication of design goals and processes.
  • Providing constructive feedback and being open to receiving feedback.
  • Experience in research and collaboration with UX researchers to understand audience behaviors.
  • Ability to generate future ideas and execute present tasks tactically.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to enhance skills and share knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience on design teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent experience in related field.
