We’re looking for an ambitious social media manager to expand and manage our social media channels, currently boasting over 900,000 fans and followers. As a Social Media Manager at Upwork, you will help shape our voice on high-profile channels, enhance our efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, product, engineering, and customer support.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead our social media editorial calendar, including writing and posting.
  • Collaborate with partners to amplify PR, marketing, sales, and operations campaigns via social media.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of our employee advocacy program.
  • Stay current with the latest social trends and technical changes, strategizing innovative ways to optimize our posting strategy and generate buzz to drive company growth.
  • Engage actively with our community to build dynamic channels that encourage balanced discussions.
  • Work with our customer support team to identify and escalate customer issues, refining practices and training as needed.
  • Partner with product marketing to refine messaging for new features and policy changes, and train the moderation team on responses.
  • Provide community feedback on hot-button issues and work across departments to ensure social needs are addressed in responses.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience managing business pages on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram, and developing social/online campaigns that create buzz.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently on various projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent writing skills and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working remotely in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities across stakeholders with a sense of urgency suitable for the 24/7 nature of social channels.
  • A genuine passion for social media and active usage of Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Sound judgment in handling challenging customer issues.
  • Professional demeanor representing yourself and the company both online and offline.
  • Experience with Vimeo and SlideShare is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social tools like Buffer, Tweetdeck, and Lithium Response, as well as communication and productivity tools like Gmail, Google Docs, and Slack, and a quick ability to learn new software platforms.
