Staff Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to help establish our new Marketplace Apps team. This individual will be pivotal in the success of our recently launched dbt for Snowflake native application and in further integrating dbt Cloud with our cloud data warehouse partners.

In this position, you will develop products and integrations from scratch, working iteratively with internal dbt Labs teams and external stakeholders. As a Staff Engineer, you will be the team’s technical cornerstone, offering technical guidance and leadership, and making direct technical contributions. You should be able to inspire your team with a deep passion and determination to solve complex problems.

We support some of the largest data-driven organizations globally, helping them make decisions based on core business knowledge. Your contributions will directly impact dbt Labs’ mission by providing innovative solutions to the challenges faced by the organizations we serve and the data practitioners we engage with.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Create solutions that enhance the dbt Cloud experience within our native application, including unique functionalities like our AI chatbot, Ask dbt.
  • Establish and manage team technical standards, release processes, and observability to ensure high-quality output.
  • Collaborate with product counterparts to refine our native application and integration strategy, setting a clear execution path for the team.
  • Explore, evaluate, and integrate offerings from our cloud data warehouse partners to deliver the best possible experience for our customers.

You are a good fit if you have:

  • Experience working asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team.
  • The drive and ownership needed to address ambiguous and open-ended problems.
  • Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience building containerized web applications in languages like Python, Java, Javascript, or Go.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead and defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Cloud Data Warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
  • Experience in OEMing or white-labeling SaaS applications.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: 129,000 – 165,000 Euros
