About You

You are a UX designer focused on creating clear, clean, and enjoyable interactions. You approach design as a series of ongoing questions, such as “Do you like this?” “Does this meet your goals?” and “Does this enhance your life?”

As a dedicated UX practitioner, you are process-oriented, creative, intuitive, and constantly learning. You aim to provide users with a healthy escape from daily stress.

You are a team player who knows how to leave your ego at the door. You are passionate about helping people worldwide discover the joy of chess.

What You’ll Do

  • Design simple, clear, and engaging interactions
  • Take ownership of core product initiatives
  • Collaborate with team members to advance our product design vision
  • Explore best practices across gaming and SaaS platforms
  • Apply Kaizen principles to continually improve products while avoiding change resistance
  • Work with the creative team to ensure consistency across platforms
  • Connect with a game that has been evolving for 1500 years

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in UX and product design, preferably in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Understanding of chess
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Lifelong learner
  • Proficiency in key UX design software (especially Figma)
  • Experience with design systems, including Figma tokens
  • Ability to think through and define user flows
  • Experience working directly with product and development teams to solve problems
  • Familiarity with UX research and implementing designs based on research findings
  • Experience designing UI user flows and forms
  • Attention to detail in styling inputs, error handling, hover effects, etc.
  • Experience creating experiences for both web and mobile apps
  • Ability to think mobile-first and adapt designs for various form factors
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of user-centered design solutions and your design process
